"Fun with Bill" An Introduction to William Shakespeare
Duration: Two and a half hour, daily, five days for one week.

Day One: Learn about William Shakespeare - the man and his works.
Begin first play: Hamlet.
75 minutes: Read a story version of Hamlet together in class. Go over themes, vocabulary, character analysis, and other elements of literature.
75 minutes: Do exercises deciphering "real" passages from the play.

Day Two: Romeo and Juliet
75 minutes: Read a story version of Romeo and Juliet together in class. Go over themes, vocabulary, character analysis, and other elements of literature.
75 minutes: Do exercises deciphering "real" passages from the play.

Day Three: A Midsummer Night's Dream 75 minutes
75 minutes: Read a story version of the play together in class. Go over themes, vocabulary, character analysis, and other elements of literature.
75 minutes: Do exercises deciphering "real" passages from the play.

Day Four: Macbeth
75 minutes: Read a story version of Macbeth together in class. Go over themes, vocabulary, character analysis, and other elements of literature. Do a children's version of the play together as a class.
75 minutes: Do exercises deciphering "real" passages from the play.

Day Five: Learn about sonnets.
Introduce Shakespeare's sonnets.
Write your own Shakespearean sonnet Suggested grades: Grades 4,5 (Beginner), Grades 6,7 (Intermediate)

GATE's "Masterpiece. Theater

Duration: Three hours, daily, five days for one week or three plays three times a week. Undecided.

Read five great plays from five of the greatest pla~rights in literature. The titles could change.

Sophocles’s Oedipus Rex, Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, Eugene Ionesco’s Rhinoceros, and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot
